Life story
June 17, 1993
Born in on June 17, 1993.
January 1, 2008

The union of Henry Lee and Melinda (Robertson) Nelson was indeed blessed by the birth of their fine son, Brother Henry Jamar Nelson on June 17, 1993 in Wedowee.  Tragically, the sun set for Jamar on Friday afternoon, December 5, 2008 at Wedowee, Hospital.

During his very brief presence, he spent his time in positive ways, doing the things he loved: like playing T-ball with the Wedowee Tigers, playing football just for the sport of it, cooking, and going to school -- working toward graduation.   Jamar was a studious youngster who endeared his teachers to him by working hard and making good grades in school.  He was especially fond of Mr. Steve Harris his history teacher, and Ms. Monroe, his home economics teacher -- who is said to be his “favorite”.  He often shared that fondness with his parents whom he told:  “I love Ms. Monroe because she took the time to teach me how to cook.”   We will always remember his favorite kitchen creation -- a cake he baked that took on the appearance of a cross.  Though you would think Jamar would be proud to have Mom and Dad cut the cake, Jamar – not quite ready to give it up -- was not happy about that at all.   But life continued as other fond memories evolved --  time spent with special friends -- like cousins LaDarius and LaQuavious Calloway, and Robert and Rico Nelson.

Though Jamar had lots of friends, he nonetheless had a touch of shyness which sometimes drew him away from friends and family, just so he could be alone with himself and by himself.   Being reared in a Christian home, his shyness in no way discouraged him from actively participating or performing at Weathers Heights Church of Christ where he often led songs and prayers.

A devoted son, grandson, brother and faithful friend, Master Henry Jamar Nelson was loved, supported and will be deeply missed by many, but none more than his parents, Reverend & Mrs. Henry Nelson; brother, Timothy Nelson and sister, Shenikia Brown (Antonio);  a very special niece, Ta'Liya Nelson, whom he looked after everyday after school; grandparents, Arthur and Candy Marable, and Tom and Lera Robertson; and great grandparents, Velma Wright and Tommy Nelson all of Wedowee, Alabama; his six (6) uncles and five (5) aunts including two (2) special uncles, Stanley Robertson of Anniston, Alabama and Franklin Marable of Wedowee, Alabama; a special coach, Pat Prestridge; and his very special cousins and playmates, LaDarius and LaQuavious Calloway, Robert “Red” Nelson and Rico Nelson, all of Wedowee, and a host of other neighbors, classmates, and friends.
